Abraham Moss Library & Leisure Centre for Manchester City Council was submitted for planning on 02nd October 2019. The investment demonstrates Manchester City Council’s commitment to invest and improve community facilities following the implementation of the 2013 Sport and Leisure Investment Strategy providing local residents with the best leisure facilities possible and builds on previous investments on the Abraham Moss Campus.
The new build centre operated by Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL) will enable a larger number of people to use the facilities attracting more residents to take part in healthy lifestyles. The centre has been designed to build a modern, accessible, state of the art new library and leisure centre and associated external areas fit for the 21st century.
Laing O’Rourke the council’s construction partner has now been contracted to progress the pre-construction phase following on with the construction of temporary services to support this investment. It is estimated that the temporary facilities will be completed for early 2020 which will be followed by the demolition of the existing building with the new library and leisure centre set to open in late 2021.
