Celebrating International Women’s Day 2019 #BalanceforBetter, we are proud that 43% of our Ellis Williams team are women – well above the 26% ARB average for 2018 of women in general practice. This shows a steady growth in numbers within the practice over the last ten years.
Jade Meeks and Louise Sheridan participated as Panel Member at last night’s Decades of Women in Architecture event at University of Liverpool School of Architecture which included retired and practicing female architects spanning the generations from 1936-2015.
Jade said “It was inspiring to see such a breadth of talent from University of Liverpool graduates both recent and historic. It is a testament to the School of Architecture to see how the Architects on the panel have had such successful, diverse experiences and how they have continue to inspire those who work with them”.
Director of the Liverpool Office, Louise commented “The message I took away from last night’s event, was that there are more women studying and practicing architecture than ever as a profession, juggling the work life balance of family and practice. Critically though, whilst female architects are now not uncommon on site, significantly more women are needed within the engineering and construction industries as a whole to encourage greater diversity in the workplace and create a better balance moving forwards”.
