We are delighted to announce that Storyhouse Chester is one of the six North West winners of an RIBA Regional Award in 2018. This follows hot on the heels of the project’s success in the LABC Awards 2018, and means the building is now under consideration for a National Award later this year.
Judges praised the synergy and efficiency of the overlapping spaces and various cultural uses at all times of day in this “radical robust conservation”, and dubbed the project a “convincing response to the question of how to activate a town centre through day and night, and of how to make culture fully and widely accessible.”
Ellis Williams worked on the scheme as delivery architects in conjunction with Bennetts Associates.
The Storyhouse will be officially opened on Thursday June 14 by Her Majesty The Queen, accompanied by her new granddaughter-in-law, the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle.
