The project involved the demolition of existing College facilities to create a 17,500 sqm, state-of-the-art teaching, learning and sports Campus. The Brief was to provide Newcastle under Lyme with a greatly improved education facility for the benefit of the students and staff, but also to reach out to the community and create a learning hub that would act as a catalyst for local change.
A separate facility that doubled up as a social/breakout space was also conceived for the Higher Education Students located within the College but affiliated to Keele University situated nearby.
Sustainability was at the heart of the new Campus facility, which achieved the highest BREEAM rating of any College in the UK at the time of its completion.
